It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Jacaranda Time

 Spring in Argentina ..
The colors are so intense

 And they are everywhere
In the parks, lining the boulevards, in gardens ... Spring is Jacaranda Time.

  2. If ever I move back it will be all your fault. I miss everything about the Spring down there, the Jacarandás, the Palo Borracho, taking the furry kids through the Plaza Francia, then go to Steinhauser to get some pastries for tea, all of it still a treasure trove of memories and my fear of not finding anything familiar except my Mother's grave at the Recoleta if I were to go back, because everything is different there than it was 40 years ago.

Once my Grandfather said to me speaking of something else "If your memories give you comfort, do not exchange them for reality. It has never been worthy of the price" It took me years to understand that but when I did I stay where I am.

I miss the Jacarandás, and I am sure I always will.

    1. I will be glad to claim responsibility . I know .. everything is different but still the same is my belief. I need to go back just to be sure.

  3. Candice, the Lapacho trees kept their flowers much longer this year - some of them still do - and the jacaranda trees are just starting to bloom. I´m getting my camera ready, I´ll send you some photos.

  4. Dearest Candice,
Oh my; how I MISS seeing Jacarandas!
We were in South Africa where my husband lectured and in November it looked like a dream in Pretoria.
It is called Jacaranda City Pretoria...
Also in Australia we enjoyed seeing them and in México, Spain and luckily also in Miami...
But we cannot hold onto all our dreams in life. We have to leave so many fond things behind from time to time...
Memories do stay however and that is soothing!
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette
